Terms of Service
Last updated July 6, 2026
These terms are a contract between you and Scene ("Scene", "we", "us"). By using Scene you agree to them. They are written to be readable; they are not a substitute for legal advice, and we recommend organizers consult their own advisors about their events.
1. Who can use Scene
Scene is an 18+ community. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age required for a specific event) and able to form a binding contract. Some content and events are further age- or vetting-gated by their organizers.
2. What Scene is
Scene is a community events calendar and a marketplace that lets organizers list events, sell tickets, and accept sponsorships. Events are created by members and organizers, not by us. We are a venue for listings and a payments facilitator — we are not the organizer, host, or seller of any event, and we do not control what happens at events.
3. Your account
Sign-in is passwordless. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your email secure. Your public identity is a chosen scene name; we never require your legal name.
4. Your content and moderation
You keep ownership of what you post, and grant Scene a non-exclusive license to display and distribute it to operate the service. You are responsible for your content and must have the rights to it. We moderate submissions and may edit, remove, or refuse any content or event, and may suspend accounts, at our discretion — see our Acceptable Use Policy.
5. Tickets and payments
- Ticket sales are between the buyer and the organizer. The organizer is the merchant of record and is solely responsible for the event, admission, ticket delivery, descriptions, and any taxes (including sales, amusement/entertainment, or VAT) applicable to their event.
- Payments are processed by Stripe via Stripe Connect. By selling, organizers also agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Scene never stores full card details.
- Scene charges organizers a platform fee (currently 2% + $0.49 per paid ticket); free events are free. Fees are disclosed before a sale and may change with notice.
- Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy. Sponsorships and paid promotions are described in their own flows and are generally non-refundable once live.
6. Prohibited use
You may not use Scene to break the law, harm others, or violate our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these terms.
7. Disclaimers
Scene is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. We do not endorse or vet events, organizers, or venues, and we are not responsible for anything that happens at an event or for any interaction between users. Attend at your own risk and use your own judgment about safety and consent.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scene is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the prior 12 months or US $100.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Scene against claims arising from your content, your events, or your misuse of the service.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Illinois.
11. Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new date. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.
