SCENE

Privacy Policy

Last updated July 6, 2026

Scene is privacy-first: pseudonymous by default, and we collect as little as we can. This explains what we hold, why, and the choices you have — including for members in the EU/UK.

What we collect

  • Account: your email (for passwordless sign-in and notifications) and a scene name you choose. We never require or store a legal name.
  • Profile you add: optional social handles and whether your profile is public.
  • Activity: events you post, save, or RSVP to; cities you follow; tickets you buy; and vouches/verification.
  • Payments: processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation and limited details (amount, email, last steps) but never store full card numbers.
  • Technical: standard server logs and minimal, privacy-respecting usage data needed to run and secure the site.

How we use it

To operate the calendar and accounts, process ticket sales and payouts, send the notifications you opt into (reminders, digests, city alerts), prevent abuse and fraud, and comply with the law.

Legal bases (EU/UK)

Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we process your data to perform our contract with you (running your account and ticket purchases), on the basis of your consent (marketing emails and non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw), and for our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and improving the service).

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share only with service providers who help us run Scene, under contract:

  • Stripe — payments, payouts, and fraud prevention.
  • Our email provider — transactional and opted-in email.
  • Our print/fulfillment partner — only for merch you order.
  • Our hosting/infrastructure provider.
  • Event organizers — the buyer email for tickets you purchase from them, so they can manage admission.

We may also disclose data where required by law.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for sign-in and security, and only set non-essential cookies with your consent. You can manage this from the cookie banner or your browser.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time. Members (especially in the EU/UK) have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to processing. Manage this from your account or contact us via the support page. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Retention & transfers

We keep data while your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, and accounting purposes (for example, ticket and payment records). Scene is operated from the United States; where we transfer EU/UK data, we rely on appropriate safeguards.

Children

Scene is strictly for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes

We'll post updates here with a new date and, for material changes, give notice where appropriate.
