Join a growing group of Northern California coastal kinksters (and those who drive from inland Mendocino because we're just that much fun!) for our monthly Mendocino Munch! This month, we'll meet in the beautiful city of Mendocino, on the back deck of The Waiting Room. It will be a short 2-3 block walk from there to our rope lab location. RSVP on FetLife to let friends know you're coming! A social in two parts! The Munch: We'll start with a social munch at The Waiting Room, a coffeehouse in beautiful Mendocino. A munch is just to hang out, get to know one another, and catch up with friends. Get drinks and snacks from The Waiting Room or more substantial fare from their pizza shop The Brickery. This will be from noon to 2pm. The Rope Lab! Then, we'll move to a private local studio for our monthly Rope Lab! Bring your rope if you have any, safety shears, your curiosity, and your willingness to learn! Also bring $10 cash (or Venmo) to cover our costs for renting the space. In order to get the location for the Rope Lab, you must attend all or part of the preceding munch, so be sure to show up before the munch ends at 2pm to meet us and get the address if this is your first time. You. Are. Welcome. Here. All genders. All orientations. All levels of experience. Just curious about kink and want to see what other kinksters are like? You are welcome. If you'd like to meet other folks in the kink world in our beautiful coastal paradise, this is a very friendly place to do it. Spoiler: There are a lot more of us than you think! Occasionally we have folks drop in who are just visiting the area or planning to move up to our spot of the coast and want to start building community up here. That's fine, too! Please feel free to let your kinky friends know about this event by sharing or mentioning the event. What to expect At the Munch: Kinksters being people! So far over the past two years I've heard folks talk about the vanilla books they're reading, chat about their lives and relationships, talk about art and travel, make silly jokes, and plot out some truly wild ideas for BDSM scenes. This is a safe place to bring all of yourself to the table. At the Rope Lab: This is a peer skillshare. Please note: This is NOT a formal workshop with teachers -- we're all learning together and from one another. It's okay to participate by practicing or just observing! We will start with an icebreaker exercise and consent discussions, then use our time to practice rope hands on. While in the future we may have more formal instruction, this lab is designed for us to start collectively building what we want from an ongoing coastal Mendocino rope group. Most of us are beginners to intermediate levels of experience. You are absolutely welcome at your own level of experience, whatever it is. Your host Miriam Green (they/ them) has been in the public BDSM scene for over twenty years in the Austin, Houston, and later San Francisco scenes. They now spend time in both coastal Mendocino county and San Francisco. A long-time kink educator, venue owner, and party host, Mir owns Wicked Grounds, a company specializing in BDSM and kink education. You'll be cohosted by several folks who have been coming to this munch for the past 1-2 years. What the heck is a munch?! A munch is a term kinksters use to describe a social gathering over food and drink. We hang out and get to know one another as people and friends. This is not a dating event and is not for “cruising,” – it’s to help get to know one another and build community What the heck is a lab?! A lab is our way of describing a space for learning by doing among your kinky peers. We practice skills hands on in an informal, consent-forward environment. Participate at your own level: trying things hands on, observing, or just hanging out because this is where your friends are! Please note We are kinksters, but we will be meeting in vanilla space. There is no kink cafe in Mendocino County. ;) Please feel free to be yourself (a lot!) in our conversations at our table(s), but let's keep our behavior and dress appropriate and respectful of the family friendly space we're in. Our spot at the picnic tables will give us some privacy, and we'll have more privacy in the rope studio. The Waiting Room has a full range of coffee & tea beverages as well as fancy sodas, housemade drinks and adult beverages. They have a great pastry case (they're part of the Cafe Beaujolais family of food spaces). You may also order pizza from their sister space The Brickery, which is immediately behind the deck where we'll be meeting.
